Sardinia villa rental

The perfect stay
in Sardinia, Italy

Filled with ancient stone monuments and sleepy villages where time seems to stand still, Sardinia is a delightful Mediterranean hideaway with a welcome as warm as the summer sun. Untamed beaches sit close to charming harbour towns, and the scent of lemons fills the air. Our rental villas in Sardinia capture the essence of that bold Sardinian spirit and place you within easy reach of the natural and man-made wonders of this unique island.

Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean. Surrounded by azure water and with sandy beaches where you can laze the day away underneath a cloudless blue sky, it’s a laid-back, relaxed island with a unique character. Getting around by car, bus or train is easy. A road trip into the interior of the island allows you to discover the remains of the ancient Nuragic civilization, the original inhabitants of Sardinia.

Sleepy harbour towns hug the coastline, where you’ll find family-friendly bistros and tiny cafés. Fish and seafood dominate the menu but tempting pastries and sweet Torrone honey nougat will keep your energy levels up for those day-long horseback hikes into the mountains. With caves to explore, cultural events and some of the best sport fishing in the Mediterranean on offer, Sardinia is a true delight.

Things you can’t miss in Sardinia
  • Take a boat ride around La Maddalena Archipelago and discover the breathtaking islands.
  • Visit Orgosolo, an artistic mountain village which is renowned for the vibrant political murals decorating its walls.
  • Tour the local wineries - Sardinia is home to endless charming little vineyards that will be sure to delight any oenophile.

Best time to go

  • During spring: with fabulous weather that sits at around 20-25°C (68-77°F), and with clear blue skies, spring in Sardinia is a perfect time to visit. Head away from the coast and you’ll discover rolling hillsides covered in wildflowers and hiking trails that take you into the mountains. The beaches are quiet although the water is still a little chilly for swimming, so why not check out some of the festivals, events and art shows instead?

  • During summer: expect things to heat up during the summer, with temperatures often climbing into the mid-30s°C (around 93°F) and almost endless sunshine for 12 hours a day. With the water temperatures on the rise too, it’s time to book a beachfront Sardinia villa rental. Make the most of the 2,000km of coastline, from the dramatic coast of Costa Smeralda to the soft, sandy shores of South Sardinia. You’ll find plenty of local events to give you a taste of authentic Sardinian life, such as the ‘La Discesa dei Candelieri’, or The Descent of the Candelieri, in Sassari.

  • During autumn: the autumn months bring a new mood to the island, a more relaxed, laid-back feel that embraces the languid lifestyle of this beautiful island. Leave your Sardinia villa on the coast for the day and head inland to the mountain villages for the ‘Autumn in Barbagia’ events, where local cuisine and wines are celebrated and masked parades bring to life the folk tales, legends and stories of the island

  • During winter: winter in Sardinia is a chance to explore archaeological sites and even try some skiing in the mountains. The main slopes are on the summit of Bruncu Spina and are usually free of crowds, as well as offering some surprisingly good powder from December through to March. Winter carnivals take place across the island, and the festive season is packed with events and celebrations right through to New Year.

How to get there

Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport to your Sardinia villa.

By plane

Sardinia has three airports Cagliari-Elmas Airport, Olbia Airport and Alghero-Fertilia Airport. The majority of international flights will land at Cagliari-Elmas airport, although all three are suitable for charter planes and private jets. Your concierge can arrange VIP transfers or car rental to take you onto your luxury Sardinia villa rental.

By boat

Ferry services run to Sardinia from Corsica, as well as Barcelona in Spain and Trapani in Sicily. Sardinia is a yachting haven, with deep harbours and plenty of marinas where berths can be pre-booked. Your Sardinian villa concierge will be able to help you arrange yacht charters so you can explore the island’s coastline in style.

By car

Getting around is easy, and the roads are generally in very good condition. The main highways are the SS 125, 126, 127, 195 and 291. These can get a little busy in the summer, giving you the perfect excuse to try some of the smaller country roads that lead to charming villages and sleepy hillside hamlets. Your villa rental concierge can arrange car hire and more for you on arrival.

Local tips

  • When ordering water specify ‘still’ or ‘no gas’ if you don’t like carbonated water, as it is the norm in Sardinia. Also remember to ask for ice if you want it, as it doesn't come automatically in most parts of Europe.
  • Locals speak Italian and Sardinian - a Romance language which is deemed to be closest to Latin.
  • Sardinia has one of the lowest population densities in Italy, making it the perfect spot to escape from the crowds.
